Black Australorps... Pullet or cockerel? PLEASE don't be a roo!

I figure the only way to know is to wait it out for the first crow! I have read that they can mature at different rates. They both have their "big girl voices" already and cluck which is crazy to me because I have 4 other chickens that are around 16 weeks old and they only started clucking about...

Black Australorps... Pullet or cockerel? PLEASE don't be a roo!

Hello, I have two black Australorps... They are both almost 11 weeks old. Both of them are very different than each other... The one in question of being a roo has a much larger tail that sticks straight up,he/she also has a much more pronounced comb and wattle... He/she is much more skittish...

    Introducing new chickens

Ok. Thanks for clarifying that! Could it be that they are just trying to determine the pecking order? The BR doesn't touch the Golden SL which is the same age. I will keep them in a fence next to each other during the day and put them together when I can monitor. I hope all my girls can learn...

    Introducing new chickens

Thank you! I figured it would take time.. the EE's are starting to get too big for their box inside and I obviously only have one coop... Would it be easier to put them together at night locked in their coop all together? (The EE's with the BR and Golden SL) Would the BR attack the EE's if I put...

    Introducing new chickens

Hello! I would like some advice on introducing new chickens together... I currently have 1 Golden Sex Link and 1 Barred Rock which are about 8 weeks old. They are fully feathered and living in their coop. I also have 2 Easter Eggers which are about 6 weeks old which are in a secure pen during...

    Gender help!

UPDATE: Unfortunately, we had a predator get into our run.... A large bird of some sort. A hawk or eagle I am guessing. I lost 2 of these babies.. I have chicken 3 and the golden sex link left (as well as my Ameracaunas because they were locked up). I believe chicken 3 is my barred rock who I...

And Dominiques are usually smaller than BRs correct? The one I have with the rose comb is smaller than the other 2.

Thank you!! I'm so happy to hear about the older ones! I knew it would be too early to tell with the EE chicks. :P

    Gender help!

Thanks! That's what I thought based off of the rose comb and single comb. I suppose it doesn't matter since both birds are similar. Do you think they all look like pullets? Maybe too young to tell? I guess I could wait and see if one tries to crow haha

    Gender help!

Also, here's a pic of my 2 Ameracauna chicks... That's what they told me they were anyway... Is there a difference in an Easter Egger and an Ameracauna? :/ Sorry the pic of these ones aren't great!

    Gender help!

I will see if I have better pics. And I'll try to label them... If I can tell them apart! Haha ;) These 2 pics are chicken 1 (they have yet to be named!) with the rose comb: These 2 pics are of chicken 2, looks single comb to me (I could only tell chicken 2 and 3 apart because one has a...
