Will having Chickens that had coccidiosis infect chicks?

Just to clarify- Coddidiosis is host specific. Another animal/bird may carry cocci but that cocci will not infect a chicken.

Q on Infectious Bronchitis and Laying

Rare for IB to reduce eggs by 100%, normally 20-50%. IB is highly contagious it can travel a long distance by air and on your feet etc They are carriers for 49 days post infection. It can live in litter etc for up to 4 weeks so thourough disinfection is required of all equipment and housing.

My beautiful Frack is sick/injured? Can't hold head up. Update: Happy ending to this story!!!!

Firstly, Sorry to hear your friend is not well. A hen this age would be a lot less susceptible to some of the broad range of diseases compared to one much younger but does make it more susceptible to some others. Its hard to say its probably this or probably that as I could with a younger bird...

    chickens still sick

As one of the of the previous posters has said its always best to consult a vet and have proper tests done there are such a wide range of Diseases and Infections that chickens are susceptible to. There are a number of reasons I don't believe it to be Coccidiosis at least not now anyway...I...

    chickens still sick

Sorry if i was not clear. Its worth trying Pleuromutilins rather than Teracyclines as they are only effective against MG and CRD its worth using something like Denegard which is effective against a wide range of mycoplasma'sand CRD's/

    chickens still sick

Well it depends what type of duramycin you gave them You may have treated the enteritis I don't know....If your not seeing effective results with the duramycin or corid I think you have reason to treat with some Anti-biotics. All the best, AP

my chicken has swollen eye with bubbling liquid

Well....Yes If you decided to kill your chicken and eat it you could do that. I'm sure your chicken would taste perfectly good and you would suffer no ill effects(providing its cooked properly!) Could a sick bird like this enter the food chain? Highly unlikely! Before any birds are slaughtered...

    Excessive thirst

I wouldn't worry too much about over consumption of water. Best to monitor the daily consumption exactly as possible over a 4 or 5 days. I would be a lot more worried if they where drinking a lot less then usual.

    chickens still sick

Hi there, As the user above has said the I would not worry about the caramel color it is pretty much normal. The symptoms you describe do not sound like coccidiosis to me. It sounds more like a bacterial infection with some secondary necrotic enteritis or vice verser, Both of which to me...

    question about chicks sneezing

If you have not given them anything already some multi vitamins in the water wouldn't go a miss as you probably know the body is putting extra into producing the new feathers and can be a time where they are more susceptible to things so some vitamins are a good boost during this time. All the...

    Swollen eye

As above. Respiratory infection or Mycoplasma unlikely to be the latter...Treat with Anti-Biotics as a precaution the Baytril will help also.

    question about chicks sneezing

I wouldn't say limited coughing/sneezing as you describe is a cause for concern at this stage as they seem active and healthy. Providing your not seeing the gasping at all and the poos look normal I think its worth monitoring but I don't think it should be to much of a concern.

Does IB make a bird a carrier?

Hi, I would be interested to know what brought you to the conclusion that your chickens have IB. Maybe you could explain? Hopefully I can give you some information that will help. Chicks are most susceptible to IB I rarely see it in older chickens but its certainly not impossible. In the...
