One of my 6 hens frequently drops an egg, usually with a weak shell, while she sleeps. In the morning I find the egg mess beneath her roost and the others pecking at it (if I don't get there fast enough!).
Thoughts? They get plenty of oyster shells.
I have six young hens, and they were all laying nice eggs until last week. Now nearly every day there is one egg that has a very flimsy shell. They have ample oyster shells. The other eggs are great. Any idea why?
We moved to 8 acres last spring and just got our 6 hens 2 weeks ago. Their coop is a converted garden shed.
We're building a kit coop for our new Easter eggers coming next week.
I'm looking forward to settling in here at BYC and learning from everyone!
