We have 3 adult guineas. They have always been around chickens and have been fine with chickens they were raised with but severely attacked/killed my little turkey and terrorized a group of younger chickens we got until they just ran off I guess.
If I can't figure out a way to keep them from...
I ordered chicks from them in May. I believe we ordered about 20 or so and more than half died within 24 hours. They didn't want to send replacement chicks. I only get chicks now from Orschelns and ours uses Hoover Hatchery. They have been really healthy birds for the most part.
This is Rebel, our first foal and Tuff's full brother. He's a little more stubborn but I couldn't ask for a more friendly horse.
This big guy is Buster. He's fairly new but likes getting into things as much as Tuff, can be stubborn. When we first got him he would seldom just let me walk...
I have 3, so doing a separate post for each lol. This is my boy Tuff. He's handsome, goofy, loves getting into trouble by untying the others, grabbing brushes and hoof oil out of the grooming box every chance he gets. He's quite the character and I love him. I owned his dam her whole life minus...
And now the chicken that I thought was a goner is suddenly better. No neuro signs. She went from flopping over on her side, twisting her head around, to standing and walking. This gets stranger and stranger but I think I have found one culprit to that; hickory trees in the chicken pen. I had no...
The chicken with the respiratory issue and big sore died last night. Now a hen that was fine yesterday is showing neurological signs today and is probably going to die soon. She's one that we got with the group of 5, she had raspy breathing when we got her but no other symptoms. My mom's...
We got most of our chickens from Orschelns, got 5 from an individual seller. One of those hens was breathing noisily shortly after we got her, this was about 2 months ago now. None of our original chickens showed any symptoms until we got some chickens at a small animal auction a few weeks ago...
We've lost about 12 chickens since a respiratory illness started. They all had open mouthed breathing, sounded raspy, loss of appetite, hunched over. One died this morning and we discovered a big sore on her wing and another sick one has a big open sore on his back. It has been raining here...
If I had the extra money right now I'd take one to the vet but right now we just don't have it. 2 of the sicker ones from this morning are a lot better. One of the poorly auction birds died. Some are eating then gasping for air.
This morning a buff Brahma has swelling under her eyes and bubbles in her eyes. The sick ones are still sick, slightly worse. I'm still rubbing vetrx on their nostrils and putting it in the water. One sick chicken has nasal discharge, like snot. They are still eating and drinking, but not as active.
Last Saturday we brought home some new chickens from an auction. There were a few poorly looking ones, just thin, but most looked healthy. None of them sounded sick but in the last few days we've noticed a few of the new ones kind of gasping for air, with open beaks. No discharge, healthy...
