What your chickens can and can't eat!

I have read in other lists like this that oatmeal both cooked and raw is not good. Also, the chicken chick (if you are familiar with her) says it's a NO. Just my 2 cents.

Personal hygiene when owning chickens and other animals

I do none of the above! LOL I've had chickens for almost 8 years and I only have 5. I muck their coop every morning and they free range in my large back yard all day. I pooper scoop the yard several times a day. No special shoes or tools or clothing. I wash my hands when needed:)

Should i feed my chickens at night

Yes it will attract predators and rats etc. Hate to be so blunt but get up 5 or 10 minutes earlier in the morning and feed your chickens.

Can a dog and chickens safely coexist in a small backyard?

Of course they can with training and with the right breed. I have had a Border Collie that was great with my chickens and I now have an English Shepherd. Neither one had any problems with the chickens. My Border Collie was 7 years old when I got my first chickens and my ES was 2 when I adopted...

    WING-CLIPPING: CRUEL OR NECESSARY? ~ Open Poll~

It It's not cruel since they feathers grow back and it doesn't hurt the chicken. I have clipped the wings on young birds until they learn to stay in the yard. I have not had to clip any for over a year.

Do you count your chickens before bed?

E I only have 4 and always make sure all four are in the coop before I lock them up. Makes sense no matter how many chickens you have. If you have too many to count you might have too many! LOL

    Poultry pampering?

I don't trim wings anymore since my 4 are perfectly content to stay in my yard during the day and they are locked up at night. I have never trimmed nails or oiled legs??!! I did have one I had to bathe because of a dirty butt and she was ill.
