Up for sale are the fertile eggs from our rafter of heritage turkeys. The price is $2 per egg, min order of $20 please.
The flock is Royal Palm, Slate, Narragasset, White, and Bronze. The main tom is the Royal Palm, so most of the babies are palm mixes of some sort.
The coloration of the...
Strutting is a strong indicator.
Gobbling is something mostly males do too. My wife and I spend a lot of time gobbling at our younger turkeys, the males are the only ones that gobble back.
As a side note, zip ties work very well as markers on turkey shanks. When we see male tendencies we...
We free range our turkeys, and put them in at night.
When we put a new set of turkeys in the turken pen we leave them in there for about 72 hours. Then we let them out. Every night we go out around dusk, walk to their pen, and they follow us in.
Every so often we will have a lady that is...
Two years ago we started with four chickens in a little coup behind our suburban home.
Two years later we live in a shack in the woods with chickens, ducks, and turkeys.
We just decided to toss all of the DIY brooders and incubator. After a month of research and a drive to Millen GA we are now...
You can see the big snow white ducks in both pictures. They are the "control" group, they are teh same age as the new little battered pekins.

I found a gaggle of 25 Pekin ducks on craigslist for $150. I figured that was a great deal! So we drove out last night to pick them up. They are approx 13 weeks old (easter ducks)..
Ugh..
They are battered, brown, and small. Poor critters. I will post some pictures later of my pekins side by...
Meat turkeys are incredibly friendly, but they aren't "built to last". They are designed to be BIG animals.
Have you (the OP, not SunHwaKwon) considered trying a heritage turkey, or something that will live longer than a year or two.
(PS, I am aware that some people have had meat turkeys...
Be careful of lips and broody hens. A while back I was using one of my normal nesting boxes with a 4" lip , during the first few hours of hatch two of the little guys fell out and could not get back up, and momma was waiting for the rest of the eggs..
After that, I made a new broody box that...

I feel your pain. We had a bear problem real bad a few years back. I posted about it, and gave parts and prices we used to set up our electric.
I am happy to report that Mr Bear is still...

We had a similar question when we were doing our chicken area. We framed out a 16X32 section of the yard. We used 5' welded wire fencing first, then ran 2' welded wire on the bottom section. Later we added electric wire to the outside, and laid 12"x12" concrete pads around the outside.
We use...
Good day!
I am in search of a broody hen or two.
If you have a small back yard flock with no roosters, then you are probably annoyed with the crazy hen that won't leave the nest! But, she is exactly what I need to sit on some eggs!
Can pay cash, or trade for a non broody laying hen.
I...
