    Pecked ear. Need advice.

How do you know it was pecked, and isn't an ear infection? I can't tell from the pic. You are doing the right thing by taking good care of her. If there is drainage, that is a sign of infection which would need antibiotics. goodluck!!

    wheezing or complaining?

One of my hens did this once...turned out to be nothing. I would bring her in too just to be safe and keep an eye on her. As long as she's eating & drinking & acting normal then she should be okay.

    Need help for my RR

Does it look like she is straining at all? She could be egg bound. I've had a few hens who have suffered from this. A warm bath will help the egg pass (& for the poopy butt), but if the egg broke inside of her you will need to get it out (yes, with your finger. Unfortunately it's the only way...

Sounds like an ear infection. You need to get her on antibiotics asap.

    Ruggy's mystery illness

Sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. I had a hen do this once...same exact thing. Flapping/seizing in my arms. At first I thought she was just struggling but then realized what was going on. I thought she was possibly eggbound (as that had happened to a couple of my other hens). Just today...

UPDATE - Very Sick Rhode Island Red

Could she be eggbound? That has happened to a few of my hens. Sometimes you can actually see them straining as if to lay an egg...they won't be in the nest when doing this most of the time. If so, a warm bath will help. If the egg has broken inside of her you will have to go in (yes, with your...

A Visiting Chicken in my yard. Please help me!

It is a rooster because it has spurs on it's legs. It looks to be a young roo, the spurs aren't very big yet but they will get rather long. Also, the tail feathers are a pretty dead giveaway as well (long & green), hens don't have long tail feathers. You will need to provide some sort of closed...

BAD eye...Can anyone tell me what this is and/or how to treat it

that is good she has one eye open. both of my roo's eyes are still stuck shut and we are going on 2 weeks now. I read to give cod liver oil for nutrition when they won't eat but let me tell you that stuff is not good to mess with. even with gloves on I can smell it afterwards on me even when I...

    scaly leg mites...please help

My roo had leftover big scaley gunk on his feet from having mites in his past (before I adopted him). I put campho phenique on it first to heal the open wound parts and then baby oil. They were magically healed and normal looking in about 1 week. It was the most amazing thing as I didn't expect...

BAD eye...Can anyone tell me what this is and/or how to treat it

How is your hen doing today? does she have more blisters and yucky stuff or is she about the same? it took my roo about a week to get really bad. I know some don't get as bad as others, so hopefully your hen won't be as bad as my poor black orphington roo.

BAD eye...Can anyone tell me what this is and/or how to treat it

his eyes aren't exactly scabbed over. it's more like swollen shut or something. it's very aweful and strange looking. we tried a warm compress and neosporin but nothing seems to get the eyes open. I am hoping that in a few days they will come open by themselves. that is what I'm hearing some...

BAD eye...Can anyone tell me what this is and/or how to treat it

I didn't think it was a reason to cull either but one of the members that responded to my post told me that it was the best (maybe easiest) thing to do. Since he is a pet roo it's just not an option for me. I am not sure if my roo would make it without me hand feeding and watering him. He has a...

BAD eye...Can anyone tell me what this is and/or how to treat it

I currently have a roo with fowl pox. It's an ugly sight. his eye started out looking like your hens and then it progressed to the eye being stuck shut and lots of oozy yellow stuff, blisters, and just an aweful looking mess all over his comb, wattle and eyes. We have to feed him water from a...
