Why have a backyard flock when you can buy Extra Large Eggs for 73 cents per dozen?

I love this thread! All of the points mostly mentioned are close to heart here. Neighbors love the eggs! It is one thing friends and family say - Gotta get some more eggs, and they come to you. Children love the chickens! Their friends love them too!! The first thing friends do when they...

How would I make this so it is solar powered?

Whoa * I hope you are all set for now. I can't afford to have a line put out to my coop but I am not running anything in the actual coop. I'm in southern NH and our town limits DIY solar to 50 watt panels max without a permit. My coop is about 150 feet away as well. A partially roofed run (4x8)...

Rhode Island Red won't let the Buff Orpington in the hen house!

I have a mint creme legbar as well who is rounding 5 months now and almost as big as our ISAs. She gets pecked at when around the food with the RIR and ISAs. One day, I think she is going to be as big or bigger than the ISAs and we will see who is on the top of the pecking order. 😉 I was...

Rhode Island Red won't let the Buff Orpington in the hen house!

My two RIRs are very sweet to humans. They rank first or second some days to the isa browns we have. They will not roost by anyone but the ISAs. They tend to peck anyone smaller off the roost if they are close unless its the ISAs. However, they lay the biggest eggs and their eggs are not just...

    3 eggs - who's laying them?

I invested in a 25$ wyze camera that I hooked up to an extension cord and put in the general vicinity of where my hens were laying to figure it out. Worked for me and might work for you!

Silkies are so cute! My easter eggs are kind and isa browns curious The frizzel (black chicken) is the best.

I just know that mine have laid about two weeks after first squatting. You'll know what squatting is like.
