possum in coop has stressed birds, seems to have induced a mass molting?

Hi friends- So here's what I'm dealing with- 2 weeks ago I followed a trail of feathers from the pen to the side yard where I found one hen, killed with it's head gone. (I forgot to close the little door, my bad- have since made a more concerted effort to tighten up security and shut them in...

Rooster's nose is bad, real bad. What to do?

I have heard great things about a product call Vetericyn, it cleans and treats inhibiting the growth of bacteria, viruses, and fungi. It comes in spray and I got some at Tractor Supply to have on hand. ...poor guy, I hope you can help him get over his nose affliction.

    Broken toe, now open wound

As for the broken toe, I bet it will set and heal up on it's own and won't bother him, unless he's self conscious of his crooked toe.

    Jack Russell Terrier

I have a terrier mix with a strong prey drive. He has no interest in my chickens (upon meeting them, he received one firm correction about how close he could get to them) as the chickens do their own thing with little regard towards him. However he does chase after my cats, I think because they...

I don't think so.....maybe search the threads for vomiting. None of my birds have ever vomited to my knowledge.

Is Aureomycin crumbles good to give to a sick bird with sour crop?

When one of my gals had a sour crop I gave her Kefir (a probiotic liquid yogurt) I used a syringe to give it to her as she wasn't eating on her own. I also gave her water w/ electrolytes added so she wouldn't get dehydrated. When she started eating on her own, I gave her crumbles mixed w/...

    Gasping and rattle

Yes, mold can afflict them with botulism, one of my birds died of suspected botulism poisoning last year(she got into moldy hay in an old barn), however the most clear indicator of that, is that the chicken is unable to stand, hold open it's eyes, and the time between ingestion and death is very...

    Gasping and rattle

Also, I just recalled when one of my hens had sour crop, she seemed to be gasping for air, however she did have obvious symptoms of a puffed up crop in addition to her distressed appearance....

    Gasping and rattle

Sorry your bird is sick! I've heard good things about "VetRX Poultry Remedy" for respiratory ailments. I bought some at Tractor Supply to have on hand, but haven't had to use it. Good luck with her, I hope she recovers soon.

    Gassy Hen....ever had this happen?

One of my hens has been under the weather lately, and I'm curious if you have ever seen anything similar...... She is a year old, semi-free range, Barred Partridge Rock and on Tuesday she was very very very ill, laying behind the coop, couldn't stand, could barely open her eyes. I dosed her...

HELP! CHICKENS SUFFERING FROM WILDFIRES AND HEAT!

So incredibly sorry you and your neighbors are having to deal with this..... I have never experienced wildfires, but I live in eastern GA where it gets pretty hot. If it was my birds, I would make sure they have a cool shaded hideout where they could get away from the heat/smoke. I would also...
