I got most of the coop and run done this weekend. All that is left is build and attach the door to access the nests, put the roof on, and finish putting on the little bit of chicken wire. We will most likely paint it for weather protection, but it's made of ceder so I'm not to worried about it...

OK I will extend it out an extra foot. It will be like an overhang in the coop. I think that will be where I put the windows also. Whadaya think? Good idea?

I can make it larger if needed. I was planing on putting the feed and water in the run hanging from the coop.
Do you think that would be ok, or should I still make the coop a bit larger?

The measurements are: run 5x3, house, 3x3x3
We are planing on putting insulation in all the walls and floor in the house, and fully siding the side that faces the yard to help protect from the weather.
I'm in the process of building a coop for my 3 Cochins. They are currently about 4 weeks old so we still have them in a large rubber maid tote. They love walking the edge of it. Should I put a long rust in the coop/run?
Thanks, and I'll post pics of what I've got so far soon.
