I bought four from the same place in a California location, two were pure Pekin the ones with the lighter bills. and the other two with a hint of gray bills grew with a shade of beige feathers, but don't stand tall as a pure Runner. My guess they are Runner Pekin cross, with Runners personality.
Thx DiyMama, that would be my next project, chickens are peaceful sleeping like babies at night; Crazy ducks party half of the night, and their eggs are everywhere :)
Thanks Mybackyardpeepers :)
I see you have ducks, a side question: Do you happen to know how to make them lay in one spot like chickens?
sounds like a new discussion
Hmmm My chickens are divided into three flocks, two are led by a hen and one by a rooster. I am not sure if breed or gender has anything to do with it, I could suggest that a dominant bird like a mother or king of the hill sibling, remains king of the hill.
Thanks ValerieJ for the nice welcome and the Sympathy hug :)
Yup human could be the worst enemy for animals, however I doubt in this case. We discuss and observe our birds together, one observation is the dominant roosters stay on their side of the fence although they could easily cross over or...
Thanks DobieLover, I ruled out human on my side of town since they all having their roosters and we often get together and share stories about them; our roosters don't agree with us on that :)
Thanks Drumstick Diva.
I read the predator threads and since the incident happened day time; i would guess a hawk who didn't have the chance to eat his meal. I moved my security cam from the front of the house to the back and caught Blue Jay eating the eggs, and before that I was about to blame...
Haha yup water "foul" ruin it for everyone.
I was reading the predator section, very informative, mink and weasel fits the description, however I doubt they exist in my area; I wouldn't mind a mink coat :)
And a dog went to backyard few years back and it was a massacre.
Thx, please to meet you.
Yah, I'll ask, however I would think a predator would attempt to eat the chicken. I had broken eggs in the coop so I moved my Security Cam inside and a Blue Jay was caught Yellow handed. I will try to upload the picture one day once I learn how to navigate this site. By...
