Help! Chicken acting strange! Egg bound?

She's like sequestering herself in a corner and napping and very wobbly and loosing balance. I did the calcium thing, but it doesn't seem to have helped really. I felt her vent area and didn't notice an egg stuck there and also checked her crop. She wont eat or drink anything. Mareks or Cocci?

Help! Chicken acting strange! Egg bound?

She hasn’t laid in quite a few days. And I checked for mites and bugs and don’t see anything. Her feathers are getting pulled out by our rooster being a little too attached to her. I don’t have calcium and d3 on hand but have poultry booster so I’ve added that to water. Is there a brand you...

Help! Chicken acting strange! Egg bound?

Hi! My buff Brahma is acting very strange. She’s been isolating herself and picking at her feathers a lot and sticking her tail up like this and falling asleep. Any thoughts? She’s lethargic and won’t eat or drink and is wobbly when standing

Question on vaccination timeline for baby chicks

Yes to Mareks! Sorry, thought I had written that in the post--whoops haha. So if I have a straggler, vaccinate everyone together 24 hours after the straggler has hatched?

Question on vaccination timeline for baby chicks

Hello! I plan on Vaccinating my new chicks when they hatch (we have everything already set up), however, I know it needs to be done within 24 hours of birth. Our hen is hatching the eggs, and I know that we shouldn't move her and or disturb her during the process so the chicks hatch...

Need advice!! Allowing hen to hatch chicks (our first time doing so), and have location questions

Welp now I have another hen trying to be broody and keeps trying to sit on the eggs with her. 😐 I know that it can be dangerous when the chicks hatch for two broody hens. I keep trying to break her broodiness but she goes back for more... Debating on moving Mom so they have more privacy out of...

Need advice!! Allowing hen to hatch chicks (our first time doing so), and have location questions

Oh wow! That's super helpful to know. Should I worry about the other adult hens eating their starter food? At least the chicks wont be able to reach the adult food since it's in PVC pipes and too high off the ground. I'm wondering about also moving them to an outdoor brooder in the run, not the...

Need advice!! Allowing hen to hatch chicks (our first time doing so), and have location questions

Ooo this is super helpful! My boyfriend is really worried about the chicks droppings/food and water in the coop since it's not set up for that and can make a mess. So moving them after seem's like a potential option. How long after did you move her and the chicks to the brooder? 24-48 hours...

Need advice!! Allowing hen to hatch chicks (our first time doing so), and have location questions

This is helpful! Thank you. Unfortunately the coop is not set up to have food and water for the chicks..They would have to leave the coop which is raised (we have a ramp) but it may be challenging getting off. All of the food for the chickens in our set up is in the run. My partner doesn't want...

Need advice!! Allowing hen to hatch chicks (our first time doing so), and have location questions

Thank you for all of this!! That was super helpful. Interesting idea for moving the broody hen. Question on your process, so I've been keeping track of the eggs she's been sitting out and our other hens (minus one) have been pretty good about not laying in the same box as her brooding. I've been...

Need advice!! Allowing hen to hatch chicks (our first time doing so), and have location questions

She seems to be a good broody hen, she doesn't seem bothered by me though so I wonder about her protection skills? That may change when the chicks hatch. She is a Silver Laced Barnvelder who aren't notorious for being broody but I read that when they do go broody and become moms are known for...

Need advice!! Allowing hen to hatch chicks (our first time doing so), and have location questions

Hi ya'll! ALL advice would be super helpful. Initially my boyfriend and I were going to incubate eggs for hatching, but then we got a broody hen and we decided to let her sit on them. The two of us have been going back and forth on the best way to let her have the chicks. We're probably on day...
