    Her fluffly bottom feathers look more gray than this picture shows. They don't look black, and her lacing looks more gray than black. She is absolutely huge. Like way bigger than all of my other hens. Bigger then my Brahma and orpington hen.

    Still not sure about this one! 9 weeks old on Monday. Comb and wattles have not really gotten darker or larger. Everytime I post I get a 50/50 on the gender 😂 is it still a mystery?

    Disinfecting coop after Mycoplasma Synovaie

    Coop was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected last Sunday (April 5th) and all the mulch in the run was removed and the soil underneath was also sprayed with Virkon S. I have new material to put in the run. These poor girls are ready to go out. Is it a terrible idea to put them out now?

    Thanks, most of them got very sick and needed to be culled. I just called my state's dept of agriculture and someone also recommended Virkon. He did not say to rinse it though. Just to soak and let dry. Does that sound right? He did say its a good rule of thumb to wait two weeks though, and if I...

    Thanks, I found the product sheet and it mentions two other types of myco but not the synovaie. Trying to find some literature on that disinfectant because I can actually get my hand on it soon.

    Hey all, I have depopulated after an M.S. outbreak. How do I properly disinfect the coop and run before adding new chicks? Everything I have read is for mycoplasma gallisepticum and it seems like it lasts on surfaces longer than mycoplasma synovaie. I have read that MS only can last 4 days...
