    Plantar warts in chickens

Hi. Our pekin rooster appears to have plantar warts (NOT bumblefoot) on both feet. They are crusty brown circles growing in size. This rooster also has severe scaley leg mite which we have been treating. However he no longer stands on the foot with the largest plantar wart things and walking is...

    Unusual hen behaviour

I think Gloria is starting to give up sitting on the eggs. We've been taking them all away from her and I think it's working. She is digging with the flock and been a lot more normal. Thanks for all your help.

    Unusual hen behaviour

Gloria has gone broody and she is taking 2 half an hour breaks a day. During both of them she often takes a very long dust bath. When her sisters or Starly (the bossy busy friendly hen on the avatar picture and Bantina's best friend) are laying she sits on all the eggs outside the nesting boxes.

How do I make my hen stop being broody?

Bantina is so stubborn! It's been three weeks and she's taking longer break times but eventually she goes back to sit in the nest. I've started taking all the eggs of her and one of her broody daughters too. The broody daughter Gloria is mentioned in another thread. Gloria has just become broody...

    Unusual hen behaviour

They get premium poultry mix with balanced calcium, protein and vitamins. Sometimes we come down with cooked rice or spaghetti (without salt) or left over curry, vegetables, e.c.t.

    Unusual hen behaviour

Thank you so much. Tonight Gloria is sleeping in the nesting box and when I thought about it I realised she has been sitting on the eggs a lot more often. I think she is starting to go broody along with my OEG Bantina, her foster mum. I will check her eyes when she is comfortable on my lap but...

    Unusual hen behaviour

Hi, my chicken Gloria who is 10 months old has been acting strangely in the last couple of days. Whenever a more dominant hen or I am near her, she puffs up her feathers, gets very vocal and walks away. She has usually got her head down when we are near her. When Gloria preens her feathers...

How do I make my hen stop being broody?

I have a hen called Bantina and she gets broody in spring. Last year we let her have 6 chicks because we only had 2 chickens and luckily they were all girls so we didn't have to get rid of any roosters. A chicken breeder told us to put her in a seperate cage without water for two days and food...

    What breeds are my chickens?

We got the eggs from a neighbour with mixed breeds. They have black Orpingtons, white leghorns, auracanas, Rhode Island reds, and possibly isa browns. We sometimes mind their chickens when they are on holiday. There are other breeds too.

    What breeds are my chickens?

Hello, I have 7 hens and I don't know what breeds most of them are. One of them is an buff Orpington bantam who's name is Starly and I also have a little hen called Bantina. Bantina is an old English game fowl. Bantina was very broody so we gave her 6 fertile eggs. One chick that hatched was...

    Easter Egger Thread!

This is Jammy when she was a chick. Above is a also a picture of her now. At the moment she is exactly ten months old. She has no beard, but we got her while she was still in the egg and we aren't sure if she is actually counted as an Easter egger. First and second pictures are of her as an...

    Easter Egger Thread!

I have one Easter egger who's name is Jammy and she lays lovely light-green eggs. My friend Layla loved her since she was a tiny chick. We had no idea she was going to lay green eggs, but when I looked closely at her comb when she was very young, it was splited into three. She always comes up to...
