    Why do my chicks shake their head?

    One of mine had a shaking head since day one. Now another out of the same batch does it. I haven't seen any mites, and they act normal otherwise. They are now 4 months old. I'm wondering if it's a nervous condition that some are just born with?

    Does anyone know if this silkie is a male or female? It makes a lot of noise when I pick it up, just like my silkie hen did at that age, and it sounds like a pullet, but I can't tell.

    Cold and 6-8 week old chicks

    My 6 week old chicks are living in the coop now with a hen. It gets down to 20 at night, and they are doing well. I don't use a heat lamp in the coop.

    I have 2 from my pet chicken as well! Mine are only 3 weeks old, so keeping a written record on feather development, etc. I read that if there is any pink/ red colour in the comb, it's a cockerel. But of course, it's too early to really tell for certain. I do have a silkie hen already, who...
