I just had to check this out. I accidentally dumped half a Costco bag of Lundberg rice on my floor. It’s brown rice. I feel terrible just dumping it. There’s nothing wrong with it, other than the fact it probably has a lot of cat hair in it ...
I’ll go easy on them, just a little daily.
My...
My turkey's are all gone.(their the only ones I can relate fighting to) Just the chickens now. Their coop is 10' h/10'w (square)...or 12'.. not sure which, but its big for 3 birds. I'm pretty sure that the feed is about that. Its okay for all birds, but its mostly for chickens, and its a...
My run is either a 10/10 or 12/12 ? Its enclosed. They dont go out, because we seem to have some hawk issues. They see a lot of light, and there are only 3 of them. They eat some layer feed made by the local farm supply here. They are coming off of a molt though. They have never done this...
No its not tough at all... but you could certainly try it. If there was any hope for a tough old bird, its a pressure cooker! ;)
My mom always told me, if you cooked a bird for longer than an hour, you cook it to death. lol..you might want to do that.
I always add some kind of broth (I like...
I have a pressure cooker (not electric) and do love it. I have cooked some old laying hens (they were about 3 years old), however, I didn't do that in my pressure cooker. I did use a slow cooker, and it was for HOURS, slow, and I had planned on making them for enchiladas as well ;) ...
Hey there....
So Ive had some old(er) turkeys that seemed to of "lost their minds" after a few years, and didn't think much of it. Well, now I'm wondering?? Do birds kind of go 'bat-crazy' when they are old?
I have 3 chickens who are about 6 1/2 years old. They came from the same flock. They...
Those TomCat bait boxes are pretty nice though. Your birds can't get into them, its a big enough opening for a rat to get into, and you can see how much of the bait is gone. You could put it in the corner of your coop, and just put bricks on top of it and make some kind of a barrier around it...
I've searched here, and people have said YES, rats can/would eat chicks. I don't know if there is away to kill them thats not a snap trap or poison to get rid of them? You might not want to take the food out permanently, but maybe consider taking it out for a few days until you know the critter...
I'm not sure the size of the hen would make a difference? I mean, the little hawk that came down after my ladies was at least HALF the size of my biggest chicken. I don't have big girls, I mean, I have 3 wyandottes, and one of my 3 ameriucana's is a pretty big gal.....and it was after ALL or...
I don't have a good picture of any of my chickens molting (none have been TOO ridiculous), but I DO have some good ones of our turkey!! She looks embarrassed. I just love it!!!!
(she's spared this year )
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
We've added turkeys over the past 3 1/2 years. Of course, most of all of them do not go past a year, due to their purpose of "thanksgiving". I've almost always kept mine with my chickens (in the yard, but not in the same coop), also with ducks. I would always be extremely cautious if there...
I found a tiny egg this morning too!! It has to be the size of a seeded grape. My hens are all almost 4 years old. I've never found an egg that tiny, only when they first started laying. So, I was kind of puzzled. Has this happened to anyone with older ladies???
I got rid of the one rat, and who knows, its other friends too. That was spring. I noticed rat poo out in my chicken coop again. I have been putting garden goodies out in my coop each day (from hanging bird feeder baskets), and there's so much they haven't been finishing it all. It goes into...
