No. I kept 3 wheaten hens and hatched all spring into summer. Then I sold all the amerucanas and olive eggers but the one hen. I was just wondering if I was understanding the genetics correctly and to see if anyone else has had a similar experienced.
There was not any other rooster. I had sold the one in the first picture with some of the hens at least 6 months before I had started collecting eggs. And even if he was the father it would have been an amerucana.
I always thought if you had bred purebred maran and amerucana you would get 100%...

The first picture are the wheaten / blue wheaten amerucanas that I had bred with my Wheaten Maran. The second picture is my Oliver egger from the cross but she lays brown eggs.
Have a question. I bought some Wheaten Marans and Wheaten Amerucanas from well know breeders. The marans lay really dark eggs and the amerucanas lay light blue eggs. Last year I bred the maran roo to the amercanas to make olive eggers. I only kept one hen from the hatch and she is laying brown...
I free range my chickens and have been collecting my Wheaten Maran eggs to hatch. I have one blue copper maran hen and I can tell the difference in her egg. But now they are starting to look similar.
If I understand the color calculator the wheaten x blue chicks will not be produce any wheaten...
