I have 5 chicks, all 6 weeks now. One had some issues growing, which has left her about half the size of the others. While she’s doing a lot better, she likes to cuddle under the others like she would a mama chick. They’re not roosting yet and she’s ending up pooped on. Is there a way to clean...
I have 5 chicks- all the same age. One had some issues (not entirely sure what, though we put her through a Corid cycle and then gave her NutriDrench), and she’s half the size of the others. They’re all 5 weeks, and the other four are really ready to move outside. How can I handle this with the...
My girls are supposed to be Welbar pulleys and so far I’ve no reason to doubt that. I have heard, however, that Welbars can come in two colors: Gold and Silver. I have one pullet with distinctly different colors on her head, though the rest of the body matches the rest of the flock. Anyone care...
Thanks for the heads up! None of my local stores had NutriDrench (even the one that said it 🙄) so I'll be finished with the Corid before we get started on the next phase.
Following your thread as I’m having the same issues with a 3-4 week chick. We tried Corid in the water at first but a drench is what’s showing signs of improvement. As to your thoughts about malnutrition due to the cocci- I had the same thought and today I am getting some Nutri Drench from our...
Update: chick is still with us but not any better. Still hides under the brooder all day, doesn’t like to move, always fluffed up, sizeably smaller than the other chicks. I haven’t tried the Corid as a drench but may try that starting tonight since I’m not certain she’s really getting a lot of...
One of our chicks has always stayed under the brooder more than the others but now we barely see her out the last few days. They are 3 weeks old and she is clearly behind the others. They all have most of their backs feathered and she barely has her tail and a little of the back. I’m afraid she...
We noticed one of our chicks this morning has the end of her beak red. It’s possible we picked her up like this and just now noticed? We’ve only had ours 4 days; they’re a week old or less. Did she injure it? Is it just a color thing? These are Welbar pullets, if that makes a difference.
