    Tractor/trailer coop build

The girls are 16 weeks today. This is what they have been eating for 6 weeks. Little to no treats, just a few mealworms and blueberries once a week. All seems good, but one bird may have some loose dark stool. I am wondering if now is the time to offer free grit and oyster shell. No one...

Wow, did they trash the coop, the five days they were in there. What a huge difference when they poop all day in the run. And. No more food and water in the coop either. Much better now. These chickens are a pleasure, hope they have a good life here on the stead. Chilling after breakfast

Do all coops struggle with heat in the summer?

Foam boards are saving the day over here, good call

What's the temperature where you are???

That will be much appreciated, but watch out for the powdery mildew, prime conditions for an early outbreak. With all the rain forecasted, I may even do a copper fungicide spray down after the bt spray clouds giving me a little assistance right now, thankful for that, it has been a ruff go

    Cooling coop

Last night I used a fan, blowing cooler air into the coop, as there was no wind. Seemed to help things cool down quicker. Woke up to 75 f in coop, very nice. Im using shade cloths, and insulation panels/foam boards, to create deep shade. Still nervous about the chickens overheating, probly...

    Goodbye aart

I too am grateful for the short period of time I interacted with her. She helped me bigtime, while building my coop. I don't need things sugar coated for me, so a more direct approach was much appreciated. Rest In Peace aart 🙏

Ruff nite panting in the coop, they seem happy and active today. One more afternoon on baking heat, and we get a break, maybe even some rain for the garden. Kentucky beefsteak and a shot of the ladies. No intentions to introduce a rooster

Just hit 100f in the run, two fans blowing, 3 sources of water, food, shade, and my full support. Keeping an eye on them from inside on live video cam.

It is so hot, can't even think of coop'ing them up til well into the evening. Long steamy days in the run. I have shaded the entire run, and some of the area around it, provided cold water constantly, and been vigilant and present. I'm a nervous wreck about tomorrow, gonna be over 100, yikes

That's the plan, hopefully I can get them in the run for a bit tomorrow, so I can clean the coop. Looked like they were going to hop in today, but got spooked by a crow flying over.
