Most humane way to kill a rooster?

I always had luck with the broomstick method. Quick, and it's cervical spine dislocation, so they're not supposed to feel it also brain death seemed to set in within 30 seconds by the looks of it from eye dilation/ movement .

Oh man! The gawky teenage phase got me all confused. And I'm not used to these color patterns.

    Easter eggers...

I thought for a second that I had multiple roos. So much so that I got replacements from the feed store...https://photos.app.goo.gl/SBR2mN2XMqYGM3zn6https://photos.app.goo.gl/2DqZrvQrNMCNU9DW9 https://photos.app.goo.gl/v3shYHptWhdaM9d37 https://photos.app.goo.gl/ibmY1yJuVxD13Ap9A But I...

    Tennessee

Hey! I'm looking for some unique breed hatching eggs in middle Tennessee. I'm located in Wilson County. I really love the autosexing breeds and the giant breeds. Thanks in advance!! 😸

    These are not Leghorns!

I’m so sorry this happened to you. Hard not to get attached to the meaties cause they’re really sweet. But they definitely need to be processed by about 9-10 weeks.

ISO Cream Legbar X Isbar Hatching Eggs (aka "Ice Cream Bar)

Oh no! That’s terrible. I’m sorry you had an experience like that. I’m lucky to have some great breeders in my immediate area and haven’t had any bad experiences.

ISO Cream Legbar X Isbar Hatching Eggs (aka "Ice Cream Bar)

Are those from f2 ice. Team bars or direct crosses? Maybe she has an opal legbar cock over isbar hens. Their green fluctuates throughout the laying season much like Marans.

    Aggressive rooster

I think she may have meant rehoming her. Although with her age, that might not be an option. I would separate the Roo out personally and drop him back to the bottom of the pecking order. If you know which ones out of your hens are the more easygoing maybe you can put her with one or two for a...

    Comb frostbite / common sense?

I have never had a problem with standard size birds and frostbite. I did however just acquire a bantam and it got into the teens last night. He now has frostbite. going to be getting a heater for him tomorrow. Everyone else was fine. Even the boys with large single combs. So i guess what I’m...

    Knitting anyone?

I knit and crochet. I have recently become obsessed with sewing. We should do a knit along. I know my birds will be happy for some sweaters with the cold weather we expect this week!

What to do with Last Rooster

If I weren’t NPIP I would take him. But if you want to be sure he doesn’t end up being mistreated You will want to go ahead and cull him.

    Are all breed "meat birds"

Stew is always good and save the bones for a bone broth. Make sure to use the feet too. Not kidding. There’s a ton of collagen in chicken feet.
