In march of this year i got eggs to hatch from a local farm when I had a broody hen and realized my eggs are not fertile. I was told her flock was mainly buff orphington. I only had 1 to hatch. I am happy with her but she does not look buff or orphington to me. She is probably a mix. Can anyone...
This one's facial markings look like a penguin and the feathers emerging on its wings stick out. My cochin frizzle rooster must be it's sire. Who doesn't love a fluffy white behind?
Thanks. I can see that mix now. None of my hens are EE. Is there any chance the pullets from this springs hatch will lay blue or green tinted eggs? A couple of them have beards.
I have thought this rooster was a barred rock but I recently realized he, like most of my birds, is a mixed breed.he has a beard but no leg feathers. Could he be part cucko faverolle?
one chick has hatched. 3 more have pipped. The hatched one seems to be having a conversation with one still in the shell. Probably a pep talk...come on out it is warm you will be okay....
My final hatch count is six chicks. That is 50 %.
I have set 12 eggs. one from each of my hens that layed in the last 3 days.I suspect the 2 Ameraucanas and one other bantam will not be fertile, but I hope that they are. 4 are outside the turner so I will have to keep them turned manually.
