I just received a reply elsewhere that recommended no intervention until the 24 hour mark. As long as there is still pipping and movement.

Pipping and movement are slowing a bit, she started cracking shell about 20 hours ago. Membrane looks fully dried. Do I try helping her out or let her have more time? Yes this is my first hatch, trying to have patience but want to do what's right for the best chance of survival.

Hello all. New to posting, but have been reading and learning lots on the past two months since we started this chicken adventure. I am in SW Wash and have 8 chickens ... 3 red sex links, 2 spotted Sussex, and 3 amauracauna bantams (one is a Roo so will need to find a new home soon!).

Bummer! And guess what I think I just heard, a little crow. Little stinker. Guess its time to find him a new home.

We are on our first round of chicks, this one is about 6 weeks old. Its the only one with such a prominent comb. Unfortunately we cannot keep a rooster where we are. Thanks.
