It doesn’t have a yeast smell it’s just a nasty odor. I will go ahead and do a flush. Thank you and merry Christmas!

Hen ate "peat mold" and has since had watery diarrhea and tail down

Yes that’s what I’m doing. She’s emptying out consistently the last few days. But sometimes it doesn’t empty out until around 9 AM. I do have her in the house in a crate and she is eating up until 9 PM at night. She doesn’t seem to have a big appetite in the morning. So by the time she starts...

Hen ate "peat mold" and has since had watery diarrhea and tail down

Update: This afternoon I went to start treatment but her crop was empty/soft. The lump I felt this morning is gone. This is exactly what happened the other day. I'm attaching more pics of her droppings. This is from this evening.

Hen ate "peat mold" and has since had watery diarrhea and tail down

You nailed it...her crop felt like a hard ball about the diameter of a nickel. Thank you. Oddly I checked the other day and it didn't empty by 7am but 1 hr later it was empty so I thought it was not the issue and didn't check again til today. I hope it's not a tumor of some sort. She is not...

Hen ate "peat mold" and has since had watery diarrhea and tail down

This morning I felt a hard ball in her crop:( About the diameter of a nickel. She ate a little but drank a lot. Now I'm thinking impacted crop. ? In response to your questions: Worming - I did one dose of Safeguard liquid (goat version), .25cc directly (on a pc of bread), one day only. I did...

Hen ate "peat mold" and has since had watery diarrhea and tail down

About 2 wks ago I witnessed one of my hens eating a white fuzzy looking substance on the ground and quickly tried to stop her but I was too late. I did a Google lens on the stuff and it came up as "peat mold". She ate quite a bit :( After that, she started acting off - having watery droppings...

    Swollen feet and comb

Thank you for these pics! I don't see a match with either one but it may resemble the gout some. Just an update --- The sores seem to be a little better but she is still swollen in the toes and her face swelled/wrinkled in the last few weeks. It almost seems like she has chronic fowl pox! I'm...

    Swollen feet and comb

@Eggcessive thank you so so much for this info. It’s very helpful and I will get her started on your recommendations first thing tomorrow morning. I will certainly update this thread when I find out what this is. Thanks again!

    Swollen feet and comb

@azygous thank you for your input. I'm surprised to hear it may be MS as she's never had a respiratory infection. I guess hers is presenting differently if it is MS? Unfortunately I've poured a lot into the vet treatments and I can't pour anymore into her at the moment with testing. I will try...

    Swollen feet and comb

@Eggcessive thank you for your input. I'm in FL so no frostbite here. I'm surprised to hear it could be MS or MG...I haven't seen any respiratory symptoms with her or any of the flock ever. I've not intro'd any new members either. Can she still have MS/MG and not show any respiratory symptoms...

    Swollen feet and comb

Oh no. I’m sorry to hear that. I’m gonna keep hopeful and just keep taking care of her. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it. Thank you

    Swollen feet and comb

In central FL…eggs are normal. Vet didn’t seem to really know and could not give me a diagnosis without having to do some further testing which unfortunately I cannot do🙁 Thank you for your help. I’ll research that. Do you happen to know if there is somewhere I can send in a specimen to be...

    Swollen Rooster Foot

Looks more like an infection on his feather shafts. I've not seen this before or dealt with it but I would put some antibiotic ointment on his feet daily. I would also give him vitamins & electrolytes like Rooster Booster in his drinking water to boost his immune system while he fights whatever...
