It seems a little early to me to be sure. There's nothing obvious screaming "cockerel" to me, but there wasn't anything obvious on 2 of mine when they were that age and they both ended up being cockerels. You'll have to wait and see. Sorry this wasn't more helpful!
I wet a paper towel with warm water and gently wiped until the poop came off, being careful not to accidentally pluck out any feathers. Then I blow dried its butt :) Worked well for me.
I also haven't noticed any problems between the chickens - we only have 3 - so I don't think the others are pecking her feathers. AHHHH. I don't know what to do. The perch has a tiny bit of blood on it but not much, and nothing that dripped underneath.
We noticed yesterday that one of our chickens had a bloody feather on the bottom of one foot. It wasn't actively bleeding but was definitely broken. Now this morning I see that BOTH of her feet have bloody broken feathers. What is going on?? Our other chickens' feet are doing fine so I don't...
I propped mine up on wood or bricks. I did enough of a "stage" so that they had to hop onto the brick/wood and could stand on the brick/wood while drinking. It helped tremendously. I also started using the chicken nipples but by that time mine were old enough to be out of the brooder. Nipples...
My bantam cochin has a broken feather on the bottom of her foot that was bleeding but isn't any more. I never saw it actively bleeding. Wouldn't have noticed it except my daughter was holding it and noticed when she had her on her back to "sleep" (lol).
If it's not causing her any issues or...
Here's what we have. It's for 3 bantam cochins. They free range the majority of the day, so their run is quite small as it's only for first thing in the morning when we haven't let them iut yet, and for when we are gone overnight and need them to have a secure place to be. The roof is on hinges...
My 3 bantam cochins have been hanging out during the day under our low deck. Under the deck is 100% sand. I'm wondering if it's going to start to reek like poop. We hang out on the deck and I don't want poop smells wafting up lol. Will the sand just absorb the poop? It's nearly impossible to...
I was there to supervise when the other 2 came back to roost. Thankfully/surprisingly they accepted her right away with no fights. Last time we introduced a new chicken it was quite a bunch of fighting for a couple days!
