    Slipping babies under broody?

I have 11 eggs in the incubator scheduled to hatch on Sunday, and two hens have decided to go broody in the last week. I am thinking about slipping the babies under them once they are hatched. I've had hens hatch before but never tried to give them basis that aren't actually theirs. So two...

    New to hen hatching eggs

They are Serama. Woke up to 5 more this morning, 5 left to hatch (the light one next to the two black ones at the top is actually two chicks the same color)

    New to hen hatching eggs

I just wanted to update that I put the incubator eggs back under the hens. They have started hatching! 5 cute little babies so far, wth 2 more very close to full hatch and pips on several more.

    New to hen hatching eggs

I was afraid that moving them from where I bought them to my house and a new environment would make them stop sitting.

    New to hen hatching eggs

Thank you for the suggestion! The only problem is they are sitting together in one nest and keep mixing the eggs up. I've numbered them and made note of how developed each egg is so I can keep track.

    New to hen hatching eggs

I bought some Seramas on Sunday. Two of the hens are broody and came with a clutch of 15 eggs. I put the 5 most developed in the incubator in case the move broke the broody, but they are still sitting on the 10 remaining eggs. I just candled them and all 15 eggs are showing development. The ones...

    Hands on hatching and help

We've got two hatched so far! Still nervous but feeling better about it. One hatched while we were working outside, the other I walked up just at the right moment. Can't wait to see the rest!

    Hands on hatching and help

First time jitters lol. I'm not sure that I do need to assist yet, that's why I'm asking. Patience isn't my strong suit sometimes. I just want them to have a healthy hatch.

    Hands on hatching and help

I put 9 bantam eggs on lockdown yesterday morning and noticed last night that one had externally pipped. Got up this morning and no progress on that one and now another has externally pipped. Obviously they are early and I'm not sure how long to give them before I start to try to help. This is...

    Mystery bantam chicks

Can anyone tell me if cochins are a slower developing breed than the others? The little black one is not getting wing feathers like the others are. They really haven't grown in much more than the pic in the first post. Thanks!

    Bantam chick among the flock

I agree with the above replies. If they are already together they should be fine. I have two bantams in with the "big girls" with no issues. One turned out to be a rooster, but he is still king even tho he is less than half the size of the big ones, lol.
