I have some chicks that look similar to the ones posted here. If they are not frizzles, does that mean they are normal? Or is there a problem with them? Nutrient deficiency or something causing the feathers to not lay flat?
To confirm, the freckles are nothing to be concerned about, or is there a supplement I should be giving my girl? My Pekin hen recently got freckles as well. She's 9 months old.
The lady I got these two from definitely had some larger, drakier looking drakes onsite. They were huge and long and their heads were clearly more warty(?), but they may have been older.
I hijacked this thread... my two muscovies are *supposedly* 7 months and *supposedly* hens, but so far I've had several people suggest that one or both are drakes. Especially the one with the white head.
Their wings are not clipped yet. We are thinking of clipping just until they get used to...
I'm frankly hoping that everyone can eventually be together. Right now, the Pekin drake is Captain Bad Touch, but I'm hoping that adding more duck ladies will chill him a bit. All of my original birds are 8 months, so hormones are still a new thing. But I'm only 8 months in on this too, so I...
Like my Pekin LOL... fatty...
These two muscovies came from a lady with a bunch of ducks, chickens, geese and turkeys. It looked like a free-for all. They were being sold for meat.
My Pekins seem to love each other, but the drake is like a horny teenager and even though the Pekins grew up with the chickens, now the drake is trying to attack and/or mate them so now I have them separated and I'm trying to get more girls for him.
I mean, I'm loving the ducks so much, and we have plenty of room, so.... yay more ducks?
Unless Noodle turns out to just be a really butch hen. My top chicken hen acts a bit roostery since we have no rooster, but she is for sure a hen.
