Egg keeps moving but not pipped

Today is hatch day for some of my quail eggs. But Monday night one of the eggs started to move on its own. It would roll a little bit then bounce like a fish bobber. It's been doing this for THREE days now. Is this normal? It hasn't pipped the shell at all. I've hatched chicken eggs before and...

Can anyone tell the sex of these Georgia Giants??

Someone is telling me they can tell the difference in the male and females of the my Georgia Giants Bobwhites. They are 6 weeks old and look completely identical to me! Am I missing something or is this person guessing?

    Corurnix and Bobwhite Quail Basics

My coturnix started crowing here and there at about 5 weeks. They are 8 weeks old now and haven't stopped. They were going at it ALLLLLLL night. I'm in the country so no one can really complain. And my neighbors can't hear so that helps. ALLLLLL night.

Is there life in these eggs?

The chicken eggs are doing good so far. Looks like 8 out of 10 are still alive. I need to get more pictures. And eggs from the store?? Really!! I've heard of it but never tried it!

    Different size coturnix eggs

I took it as humor! I tried laying eggs. Didn't work. Instead of eggs I got kids. 4 of them. And all boys. So I decided quail would do the job better!! And speaking of humor, there is a post somewhere around here that I found when googling. Someone posted a question about how to make the quail...

    Newbie needing help!!!

Oh, and because I'm doing even more quail, I am about to try my hand at putting them on wire. I'm not a fan of it but I'm going to try and see what happens. Your preference.

    Newbie needing help!!!

People have different opinions about keeping them on wire. Some say it hurts their feet and others say it's great because it makes it easier to clean and others say so long as they have a place to go off of the wire they will be fine. So up to you. I personally keep mine directly on the ground...

Kingmt is right. Small groups of quail could be bad. I'm doing okay with with 4 females to one male but I keep a good eye on them. I've also done the bleach on my boots thing too. It's just good practice to keep your shoes clean. But don't stress!

    Different size coturnix eggs

My jumbo Browns have just started laying. Their first eggs were really small. The next day they were a bit bigger and the next day even bigger. I also noticed the first eggs had some type of white build up on them in blotches and I'm assuming it was a calcium build up??? They weren't smooth and...

I wouldn't stress so much! I jumped in too and learned as I was going. Coturnix can't fly very well. It's not like raising bobwhites or something. So like others said, a rabbit cage is perfect. They don't need a lot of room either. You could keep these things on your porch or deck or balcony...

    Corurnix and Bobwhite Quail Basics

Someone said the 28% feed will cause jumbo coturnix to get so big they'll injure themselves. Ever have any experience with that? I was feeding all of mine the 28% gamebird starter then started getting worried after the comments.

    Our first two eggs!

Oh, I ate these eggs! They were yummy! I'm debating on getting a hovabator. I plan to turn an old fridge into an incubator but in the mean time I think I want a hovabator.
