    Hello

She's definitely our Head Chook, and a quick learner. I was expecting the Wyandotte to take lead position from all I've read but she's just that bit younger.

Silver Laced English Orpingtons - Dude or Dudette?

Interesting to read different perspectives on Orpington comb development - one member says slower, one says faster. I have heard that they tend to crow later then other breeds if that's much help, I'm waiting on verdict on two of mine who are 7 weeks old. Keen to see how these beauties turn...

    Hello

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? My family had chickens when I was little, I had chickens in my teens and early twenties up in a snowy area and now I've got this new flock with my own kiddos. They are quite smitten and very excited. (2) How many chickens do you...

That is a splendid idea as it will help to ID at different ages and stages of different breeds. Can't wait to see this all in action

    Let's play Roo or Hen

Hello Fellow Chicken Fanciers! We recently adopted these little beauties as day old chicks (24/12/24). All 3 were said to be Buff Orpingtons but apparently sellers Hen was visiting the neighbours Rooster, I'm guessing he was an Aracuna, Easter Egger or Americana with those fluffy cheeks. One is...

Introducing new chickens - Where do they sleep?

My newbies just wanted to sleep on the floor for a few days. First night they were obviously bamboozled - imagine leaving the only bed you've known and then offered a strange bed elsewhere. Poor things! I aimed to quarantine but of course kids let them out together. The newbies still hang out in...

    Continued Lethargy After Deworming

Oh wow worming knocks the chickens around! Thank you for sharing your journey and I'm glad Ruthie is feeling better again. I noticed my birdies are looking a bit tired and aren't their usual eager selves post worming, but it had to be done. Preventing is better then cure, I guess.
