I am trying to figure out the breed for these chickens. We bought them from CAL Ranch and they got their chickens from Hoover Hatchery this year.
The all black chicken we were told is a midnight majesty. We have five and they have feathered feet, a green shine, and a white feather on their...
For those that use cameras, where did you place them? I know I want one inside the coop and another in the covered, closed in run. Have you put them anywhere else?
For information: we have a shed as our coop that is attached to a covered, closed in run. That is all placed inside a large fenced...
I am so excited for the guineas! I was surprised when he said yes. The line on the info card said good flocker protectors, which is what I think had him saying yes. I've always loved having farm animals. He was Navy so we never had them while married until we move to Idaho to settle down. Now...
I have yard work clothes that I wear to do outside work. I keep those separate from everyday work clothes. Then I have a boot mat just inside the back door that I kick my boots off on before walking further inside the house. I just put up some hooks right inside the door too to put my work...
My husband gave in to chicken math. He said we had enough (with 20 chickens & 2 turkeys). When we went in to CAL Ranch, we came out with 3 french pearl guineas, 2 light brahmas, 1 golden comet, and 3 assorted color laying chickens (no idea the breed). So we set up the baby brooder again. Plus he...
Hi everyone. My name is Photina. I am a returning member to Backyard Chickens. I am not new to raising chickens, but I have an almost new flock this year. We have 22 chickens in various numbers of midnight majesties, americaunas, buff brahmas (regular and bantam), sapphire gems, sapphire...
Because I don't know what kind of chick it is, it's not on meat bird food. He's on chick grower and in a separate pen with another one we want to keep that is a dual purpose bird so he/she has a friend.
Thanks. I looked at their videos and those are the two I thought. I am impatiently waiting for him/her to grow. The chick has been named Aspen. That why he or she can keep the name either way. Aspen is hanging out in a tote with one of our pioneer chicks who we are going to keep and add in with...
Our chicks, granted not pullets, just arrived today and they were in a cardboard box with plenty or bedding and holes. The box was a cover that was stapled on and they arrived fine and chirping. Even had a nice chat with the post office worker about them because he orders from them, too.
I also have a "McMurray Mystery" chick, but they just arrived this morning with our meat birds. I know which ones are our Cornish x and which are the Pioneers, but we have one little chick that is black. I added pictures, but as a day old chick I'm not sure it will do much good trying to figure...
