I love my brinsea mini advance. Keeps me from overwhelming myself with chicks. Haha.
Instead of the ova scope, you can use a Maglite flashlight with this rubber attachment. It's almost like it was made for candling. Also much cheaper. You can get them at most Home Depots or hardware stores.
Thanks poularde, I feel pretty dumb. I just kind of wrote them off once I thought they were boys and put them out in the grow pen. Then this morning I was checking them out and I was like...duh! No black!
Hi everyone!
I recently hatched some eggs from Cloverleaf. It was a bad hatch and I only got 2 out of 7. Brinsea is replacing my malfunctioning incubator free of charge.
But anyways, I thought they were boys when they first hatched because they each had dark spots on their wings and started...
You know what's weird? I just checked mine and it was doing the same thing as yours. I had it set to 99.5 but it kept saying that 99.6 was the correct temp. I probably wouldn't have noticed. I just put it at 99.3 and now it's saying that 99.5 is right. Hmm.
Haha! Good luck with your hatch! I'm on the 4th day of my second hatch right now in my brinsea. Salmon Faverolles from Cloverleaf. What are you hatching, JH?
Have you set your high and low temp alarms too close to the incubating temperature? You might want to scroll through the menu and see what temp the alarms go off at. The star normally means all is well.
Yikes! I'm sorry.
I just kept her in the long sleeve shirt until it got better. It took about 9 terrible days until i finally doubled the antibiotic dose the vet told me to use. The double dose got rid of whatever it was fast.
But the long sleeve shirt seemed to work well as long as she...
Here's one I found on the floor of my coop one morning. Not sure who laid it, none of my girls lay a green egg. I do I have one girl that has never laid at 2 years of age, so maybe it was her. It was totally a mini egg when I cracked it open. Small whites with a very small yolk and a dab of...
I allowed my water pot in my brinsea mini advance to dry up a few times. I normally left it dry for the rest of that day and ended up with a 100% hatch. I'm sure they would be fine. :)
I used the mini advance for my first hatch and did 1 hour of cooling for the second week (just because it seemed kind of scary to have them cool for that long but I got over it) and 2 hours for the last week. Ended up with 100% hatch rate!
Hi all,
I have an 8 week old blue marans roo who has been practicing his crow at sunrise. I've only been awake that early to catch him doing it once. It's really soft and sounds more like he's choking but he jerks his little head and chest out proudly. How long does it normally take them to...
