Just because our lease on our new place is a year long, and we raised him like a pet and are very attached to him. We will find a living situation where we can have him in a year.
We are looking to rehome our rooster (temporarily) for about a year. We just moved into the city and just found out our 17 week old Starlight Green Egger pullet ended up being a cockerel. He's super sweet and cuddly, but he just started crowing, and we need to rehome him immediately. Looking for...

Picture no.3 is actually the same SGE, just when (s)he was younger! Thanks so much for your help—we’re looking into temporarily rehoming him until we’re able to keep him.
Hello! We raised four chicks to now 16 weeks old and thought all of them for sure to be hens. Our starlight green egger is now perhaps looking more rooster-like. We looked at her wings in the first week and were 100% positive she was a hen based off the two stepped wing. Her size and tail...
Thank you so much for the advice!
My wife and I are so worried on what would happen to them during the night. Whenever we go down there, the henhouses are so small (only big enough for maybe 4 full sized chickens) and that we tend to always wake up the big girls. I would be predict that the...
Hi! I posted a thread a few weeks ago now about trying to integrate our 4 chicks with our 3 year old hens. The advice was great, and we implemented safety zones and lots of food and water. Though, even with some progress on the big girls getting used to the now 10 week old pullets, the pullets...
I think we are going to start them on that medicine today just in case. Do you think they would be able to contract it if they were eating medicated feed for a bit? When they were 0-4 weeks, we did a half and half mix of medicated feed and organic feed. Do you think that makes them “immune?”
We’ve been noticing the chicks pooping with some red in there stool, and it seemed like everything was pointing to shed intestinal lining. The thing is, the poops like that happen almost everyday, and one of our chickens hasn’t grown much compared to the others. A vet friend (in training) of...
Update!
We have added lots of safety zones, including a pallet, which works great! @Mrs. K
Also an abundance of food has been instrumental at giving the chicks a chance to go out of their safety zones to a different feeding area where the big hens aren’t. @tviss711
They are learning a ton...
Our 4 new chicks are 6.5 weeks old and we’ve been slowly trying to integrate them for the past 2 weeks or so with a little structure I’ve built from an old coop we had. We’ve been letting our 3 year old chickens into the outside area where the structure is and they are able to eat near each...
