DIY HUMANE way to Kill Slaughter Chicken (Stun-kill, Gas)

Sooo... I didn't read all 73 pages, but seems to be consensus here is slitting/cutting/etc. My question is, has anyone considered a pellet gun? By pellet gun I mean an actual .177 air or spring gun, 700fps, etc, not a Red Ryder BB gun. The things are capable of killing coyotes, and are more than...

    Arizona Chickens

@Sill I do mostly automotive fabrication, suspension parts, turbo kits, etc, but I've done larger scale projects as well... like our barn, lol.

Is there a way to create a sticky thread in this forum?

LOL, you're absolutely right! It's just not where I'm used to looking on other message boards and didn't look above the post columns, I'm used to the stickies being 'in' the posts at the top of the list.

    Mite Problem

I think you may have two different issues... You can try poultry protector if you don't want to use chemicals, and VetRX is good for leg mites, but you should consider something like Ivermectin Pour-On or the like, basically a drop on the neck just like your cats and dogs, gets rid of mites...

Is there a way to create a sticky thread in this forum?

Something we could post up that says, in case of these symptoms, start here... if this and this, use this... etc? I know we all have different ways of doing things, so probably need to have two separate stickies, one for meds and one for holistic remedies... Just a thought...

    horse chirps and warery feces

Should probably start her VetRX immediately, because it helps with everything, and then start her on Corid ASAP in case it's microbes, but the hoarse chirp could indicate worms (gapeworm or intestinal parasites), in which case you should worm with either a topical (Ivermectin Pour On) or feed...

    Howdy!

Great looking birds Yorkshire! We love our Polish, they are certainly quirky and opinionated, lol, but if you play with them they're really personable and pretty smart. We've got the one frizzle tolbunt hen and two frizzle roos, and 7 smooth tolbunt chicks that we're hoping to make a go with...

    Sick chick wont open eye

Hi MrsB, I know that cockroaches are transmitters, because the worms hitchhike on them, but thought the worms existed in the environment independent of the bugs? Hadn't heard where the bird has to eat the each to possibly become infected? Good info.

    Sick chick wont open eye

Poor Chicky... How's her poop, normal, loose, none? Could very well be a tummy problem and the eye is secondary, but at this point I'd be thinking real serious about worming her in case it is eye worms, plus the wormer will take care of any other parasites in her body. Might also add corid to...

    Howdy!

Thanks all, here's a few more now that I'm at my desktop having my cup of noodles for lunch, lol. The things we do to afford our critters, right?

    Sick chick wont open eye

Debris in her eye could be the culprit, could also be a secondary symptom of her not feeling well and unmotivated to remove the debris. Would start with irrigating the eye with a water flush and then maybe add a topical antibiotic, VetRX is also a good first step as it may help her feel...

    Arizona Chickens

Holy Moly! Long thread, lol. Just wanted to jump in and say I'm in Queen Creek, have a pretty good small scale breeding program, if anyone ever needs any help with anything, questions about breeding/incubating, how to work on your car or weld some steel together, feel free to hit me up. :)

    Howdy!

Wanted to introduce myself, name's Ben, live in Queen Creek, AZ. The wife and I started out with a few random birds a few years ago as pest control around the horses, and in the last year and a half we now have a pretty good small scale (small scale, ha!) breeding program for a variety of Polish...
