Help with Rural King “Colorful Egg Layers”

sadly, I don’t think any are Marans either. I wish I’d googled photos of maran chicks before picking. I do have a Welsummer so, I’ll have chocolate eggs, just not BCM dark. :)

Help with Rural King “Colorful Egg Layers”

Thanks! My current and former EE both have beards and cheek poufs and green legs. I had always read EEs have green legs, so the yellow legs had me confused. I do think Connie is a starlight though, she is getting redder by the day and looks very similarly shaded for the adult photos I’ve seen...

Help with Rural King “Colorful Egg Layers”

Hi there! I got these chicks at RK a few weeks ago. I feel reasonably confident that Connie is a Starlight Green Egger and Violet an Americana. I’m interested in what you all think. I have no idea what Caro is. She has yellow legs. The breed options were: Americana, Olive Egger, Prairie...

    Help with identifying eggs

Thanks for the reply, aart! We have actually set up a time lapse camera in the coop today! We know it's not really important who is laying what, but it sure is fun. Your pointers are very helpful :)

    Help with identifying eggs

We have a mystery on our hands as to who is laying here! Our girls are just 20 weeks old, but our Speckled Sussex started laying at 18 weeks. Our Sexlink at 19 weeks. We know which are the SS eggs (the small ones in this photo) and the SL (the one at 11 o clock in the photo). However, we don't...

Hubs and I have been discussing more venting. I do like the idea of the house floor vents since they look nice. We will see what happens :)

Thanks :D I am trying, but like I've said, it's so much more complicated than the way I raised them growing up. LOL.

****** DIY chicken feeder pipe! ******

Hi everyone! I've just been reading up on this thread and from what I've gleaned it is that 4" pipe is ideal? How many pipes would I need for my 6 girls? 2? Thanks for any info :)

Thank you, this is some of the more helpful advice I've gotten thus far. I went back pages and pages and none of the coops have gotten the reaction that mine has, so you can imagine my distress. When finished, the ladies will have the PVC pipe feeders and a hanging waterer, so basically...

The soffit is attached to the roof overhang. The venting is where the walls don't quite meet the roof which is a good foot (at least) back from the soffits. I know the coop is large. It needed to be about 1/4 of the size it actually is. I've seen tons of coops the size of rabbit hutches so I'm...

This building is quite big. Perhaps the photos aren't showing it? It is 8' x 10' with a roof that slopes from 8' down to 7'. 30 sq feet of it is used for the coop with the rest being storage. However, it is all open. There is a fenced off section for the birds, but it is not walled off to 30 sq...
