Hi, I have a Mum sitting on now 5 eggs and 1 chick has hatched. She keeps pecking at the baby on the head which is making it squeal. I did. I even gave it a quick rub to try get things moving like it was a puppy but there was no response. All a learning curve. This is my first hatch and beak getting stuck is prob the only thing I haven't read about.

This baby has been seemingly stuck with its beak out the pip hole for about 18 hours or longer. I started to assist hatch this morning because I honestly thought it was dead but when I saw it move its beak open to breathe I put it back in incubator. Do I need to keep helping?? I doesn't retract...

I found I could lift/part feathers ok. My girls and boy are very used to being handled, so they mainly stand still but to go looking for something I haven't looked for before I think I might need 4 hands. Will let you know how I get on tomorrow. Thx again.

Vent appearance I should prob say rather than butt check. The difference between laying birds and not laying seems quite clear.

Thanks for the info. I didn't need to feel around for pelvic points as it was quite clear from Butt checks that 2 are laying. No soft eggs today and only 1 regular egg, maybe the softies were from the one that hasn't been laying regularly yet. Hopefully I will get normal eggs from her soon. Thx...

I'm not sure what vet Rx is. I can get vapour rub though. How would I do that?? I had to put my frizzle down 3 weeks ago because she got very sick very quick. I would love to keep the ones I have left and get them healthy if I can. I will try anything.

Thankyou all for your help. It is the Oxy B I have got. I will use is as the sole water source for them for the 5 days. I hope they get better soon, while they havn't got any worse they don't seem much better yet. Fingers crossed. :)
