That said - Hattie was always a bit extreme in that in my opinion - I really don't think it is normal for the average chicken to lose...
From what I have read, head shaking in chickens is a common sign of an ear infection. And, if she has an ear infection, she may not feel so great - between that and missing Mr. Chips, that may explain it.
I suspect it will be hard to determine if she has an ear infection unless there is a bit...
