🤦♂️ Haha out of the initial 4, we got a black Australorp that was supposed to be a female that clearly isn’t. So if this one turns out to be a dude the we will be down to two. Keepers. I guess we will have to pick up a few more this spring.
Hey Ryan,
I am a fellow resident of Bakersfield as well. Due to your efforts, months back we dove in and picked up a few hens becaue the local media said backyard hens are “NOW” allowed.
I am pretty upset that all of a sudden they apparently aren’t allowed. Anyways, I’ve attached a picture of...
my wife showed me some pictures on Pinterest and I came up with it. Watched a few YouTube videos and made sure to incorporate some of the features that would make my life a little easier.
1 of the 4 is a silkie. The 16 SF does not include the nesting boxes. Looks like most on here recommend 2 or 3 SF per bird so I think I’d be fine adding 1 or 2 more if we go that route.
So far we have a total of 4:
1: RIR
1: Silkie (hopefully a hen)
1: Black Australorp (starting to look like a roo 😤)
1: Buff Orpington
my bird dog ate two others before I got the coop done.
