I began raising chickens for meat after we started buying our beef from a local farmer. It seemed to follow that if beef purchased locally was so dramatically different from what one purchased in the grocery store, then chicken must be as well.

I have never liked birds and even have felt frightened of them, but I determined I would get over this fear and responsibly raise my birds.

Now it gives me great satisfaction to know the birds have lived the best life I know how to provide and my family is getting the highest quality food I can provide. Besides they're interesting and fun...a special bonus.
