I am so sorry. She looks like a he to me. We just went through the exact same scenario. We had to rehome our sweet 10 week old americauna whom we were certain was a hen until she started crowing. Good luck.
Try checking with local fb groups. We ended up rehoming our roo and trading for a hen. Lots of peoplie had hens they were happy to part with. (Yes - I’m the same person who is waiting on the expensive started pullet. We placed that order before we realized how easy it might be to get a local bird.)
You can but they’re expensive. We’re currently waiting on one from the Chick Hatchery. $40 for the bird + $40 Shipping and $40 small order fee. (We had raised only 2 chicks and one ended up being a roo. We were desperate for a similarly aged bird that we could get fast.)
We bought a couple of sexed week old Easter egger pullets in early April. 2 months Later one of our girls is a boy. He’s just the sweetest thing (hand raised - lived in our kitchen for 7 weeks). We really want to find him a nice home. Our town ordinances forbid his very existence. Anyone...
Thank you. That's what we thought as well. Just sad. :( The other bird is definitely a hen. Single row pea comb, smaller, defers to the black and white one... We have a Rhode Island Red coming ASAP. We'll try putting the cockerel in a black out box until we're ready to be up each day.
