    Four or Two-Legged Critters?

And woke up this morning to find our roosters and hens out... Somebody has been getting in, pulled the pen door ajar with enough gap they could get out, plus a gaping hole in a corner and the back! Agggh!

    Four or Two-Legged Critters?

Thank you. I got a cam the other night and will look better into this Mini DV. I also setup a motion light in our back yard as well as at chicken pen. I appreciate the input. I know there are worse violations and worse things that have happened not only to others even on this site, my own...

    Four or Two-Legged Critters?

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I was afraid of that. Gonna stop us from doing a lot of things... No, I do not have any cameras. I will try to run down to Walmart today or order Amazon. Does anyone have any idea of a great camera, manageable price? I remember seeing a dashcam at Walmart a few...

    Four or Two-Legged Critters?

Hi! I don't know if anybody can help, but hopefully we can end this mystery I have... Last week, we noticed two of our chickens missing. A small - very small - hole, was apparently dug under board and fence from the side of the coop's loose soil. Looking into the coop at the hole, though, it...

    Wild chicken, need help identifying

No, we're definitely not tropical (except from what a greenhouse may produce). Actually, besides the usual cacti, we do have a lot of miscellaneous large and small bushes and trees (i.e. willows, mulberry...) and scattered grasses. That's not even counting the flower and vegetable gardens...

    Wild chicken, need help identifying

That's what I thought. Unusual then. I figured being able to fly as she's done, that she's been in the wild for quite some time. With the other chickens in the pen, we'll see if anymore eggs get eaten.

Ok, thanks everyone for your input - some kind of American game hen it is then. Definitely it is not anything exotic. Hmmm- game hens have been tasty (and small) though... It apparently hasn't been around today. Plus we haven't seen any eggs in the past couple days in the pen with the hens. Not...

    Wild chicken, need help identifying

EGG EATING - Also, since it's arrival, noticed eggs had been eaten yesterday from pen (it has walked into pen a number of times). But searching threads, looks like egg eating could be a 'normal' thing among chickens. We wanted to try catching and keeping with the others, but since the egg...

    Wild chicken, need help identifying

Good evening. Over the last couple weeks, this chicken (@ first we thought it a fighting rooster from distance) started showing up. It stayed a distance away from our chickens, but now hangs around with them as they range. Often shows up (like today), sometimes doesn't. IT FLIES - has launched...

Thank you for the input, FlappyFeathers! We'll look into the nestboxes training. They have only been wandering the yard off-and-on maybe since end of summer now. I've kept them in due to the wild dogs/varmints/animal situation around here (didn't know how our cats would deal with them too) but...
