What breed is this? (4 years old)

And a good momma! She’s usually skittish, but she WILL chase you down if she thinks you’re going to hurt her baby.

How old are they? I think the striped one might be a Plymouth Rock hen

What breed is this? (4 years old)

This is my hen, Phoenix. She is almost 4 years old, but I have no clue what breed she is. I got her and her flock from a friend of ours. It’s a barnyard mix flock, I think, but they seem to be pure bred, aside from ones they have hatched while living with me. Below are some pictures of her. (Her...

    What attacked my rooster!?!?!

I'm sorry he didn't make it, but I think I know what killed him. I had a similar experience with a hen a few years back. Sweetest bird I ever had. She had been attacked by the neighbors dog, who had torn her wing off. She died that night from shock.

Question about Marek's Vaccine (couldn't find answer on FAQ)

I had been reading about one vaccine today which had said it was a live vaccine. It's sad knowing so many have lost birds to Marek's. I'm hoping to find the cure, someday.

Question about Marek's Vaccine (couldn't find answer on FAQ)

I am aware, but it does help the chick's immune system prepare a bit so they have a better chance to survive it. Thank you for responding so quickly.

Question about Marek's Vaccine (couldn't find answer on FAQ)

So, I've decided to vaccinate my upcoming chicks for Marek's. I'm ordering the needed needles and such, but am hesitant with the vaccine itself. Since it is a live virus, how long will it live before it gets too old to use? There's one for about $34, but it is for 1000 dosages when I'm currently...

18 week old hen, injured leg?

Sorry for not posting for a while. She sadly didn't make it. We took her to the vet, and he told us that she likely had a spine injury from the roo. We ended up putting her down since we didn't want her suffering anymore. She would rarely wake up, so I would have to groom her and ruffle her...

18 week old hen, injured leg?

Good news!!! Her paralysis has worn off. She can now move her leg and toes! The vitamins and adult hen food helped a lot! Sadly, she still seems to have some leg problems. She lays with the one leg sticking out in front of her and seems to have discomfort when trying to move it. I felt the...

18 week old hen, injured leg?

The green poop could be from poor nutrition, as she is on chick feed that only has proper nutrition for up to 16 weeks of age. We got her adult food today and are looking for vitamins.
