Fox attacked by Chicken - do I crate her, or put her out?

You know, she is. When we lost our roo, she seemed to step up to the plate. My hubby thinks she was trying to protect the bantam. I never heard a sound when the fox got her. Thank YOU!!!!

Fox attacked by Chicken - do I crate her, or put her out?

We are using this spray and the Blue Kote, she seems to be healing. We will let her out with her sisters for a little bit - UNTIL this morning. Even her sister is pecking at her. What does that mean? Pain must be setting in, she definitely does not like it when it's "clean and smell" time.

Fox attacked by Chicken - do I crate her, or put her out?

I'm lost on the sugar pack and medical honey :( . Went to tractor supply and got Microcyn (removed the stitches) and added Blu Kote. We will see. We let her out with the other chickens - WON'T DO THAT AGAIN, they pecked at her and they NEVER do that. FYI, if you need a kennel/cage - we were...

Fox attacked by Chicken - do I crate her, or put her out?

Cotton Thread. One site suggested that or silk. After my DH did "surgery" we dabbed iodine. I don't think the cotton thread worked. Only one wound is still stitched.

Fox attacked by Chicken - do I crate her, or put her out?

Well, she has pecked - scratched off her bandage. Should we leave it off and let her be? My husband thinks it needs to be covered, however everything we try, she gets off of her. keeping her "locked up" will be difficult. Except for the wounds, she acts the same. As for that fox, thank you...

Fox attacked by Chicken - do I crate her, or put her out?

Here are more pics. My DH ended up putting a piece of gauze to keep her from pecking at her bigger wounds. Also reapplied neosporin. Not sure what else to use to keep it clean. She still is loosing feathers as well. I can't tell if she is in pain, but she definitely wants to be with her...

Fox attacked by Chicken - do I crate her, or put her out?

I did, and was lucky enough to see that freaking fox! The problem with her being crated - she HATES it. She may think she is in the "clink". It is the same kennel I use for my BO who is broody every other week :( !!!! She also keeps pecking/scratching at her herself. I don't know if that...

Fox attacked by Chicken - do I crate her, or put her out?

I should add, with all my screaming and running, she (James Dean) came up the hill on her own. she's walking, ate some peas. She's drinking water. Except for the missing feathers on her back and side, the gashes and puncture marks, she seems o.k. Yet do I separate her and keep her inside?

Fox attacked by Chicken - do I crate her, or put her out?

I know many of you see this type of posts and I really tried reading through with shaky fingers. So a fox got to my hen. some gashes and puncture wounds. She "seems" ok. eating peas,we stitched up the deep gashes and put iodine on her. Should I crate her - is there something more I should do?

Wyorp, I owe you a TOTAL .....TOTAL APOLOGY!!!! I re-read my post and thought to myself that I sounded...rude. and that was my last intension. My DD wasn't upset with you as much as she was upset with her roo being sick. Both you and Rebrascora (along with everyone who posted) were loving...
