I am also new to chickens and I had a very similar problem. I got 25 chicks on 4/7 and they started out fine for a few days until one started to seem week, no appetite, and finally just laid on it's side. I ended up removing it after I noticed others seemed to be affected.

The first chick affected was very listless a few days after I got them and after a few more days started to lay on her side with her feet sticking out. I was reluctant to remove her and now I really regret it. The next bird that was obvious would sit on it's haunches and do this weird...
the description of your sick chick sounds a lot like the problem I am having. It started with one chick with the same symptoms as yours but I didn't know enough to isolate it.( I am brand new at this also ). I have had to remove five so far and I know at least two more are sick.
