I have this same incubator. Have My first batch in there now. Also in so cal so bummer no one will sell us hatching eggs. I got my eggs from my hen I bought that mated before I bought her. Good luck!
Thanks! She’s been laying once a day. I’m guessing aside from going broody at some point she’ll also take a break eventually right? I’ve always heard they’re not the best layers
She’s a girl! I figured she was too young to lay so I haven’t been checking in her coop except when I clean it. Well this afternoon I saw an egg next to the silkie by the feeder which is downstairs in their run. The silkie is like 4 months old...must be Birdie! Looked in the coop and sure enough...
If I were to guess (and it’s a guess, bc I know nothing about this breed) id say all the way left is roo and the other 2 are pullets although the middle one looks suspicious
So cute! That’s kinda what I plan to do... only buy hens and pullets. They are hard to come buy unless you buy autosexing breeds though. Most people I find don’t want to sell their pullets and hens. Maybe I live in an area where chickens aren’t popular?
Poor little hen. I always am...

My girl also has black skin. One more thing, the ears, should they be turquoise or blue? So far my...
I 3rd that. Naming them makes it too real. Hell I even kept my rooster’s name as his female name because he responded to it and I felt bad changing it on him. I got rid of him the 2nd I found a good home. I wanted to keep him! But knew that wasn’t an option. I almost cried rehoming him. I’m so...
Thanks! She is a pretty girl. She’s had a really pretty round head since she was 4 weeks old. That’s when I started to wonder if she’s got some show potential. That and her lines would indicate there’s a good possibility she would be. And just an FYI, she’s been blood tested so she is in fact a...
Thanks! I’ll try puffing her tail out more. Since these pictures it’s gotten huge! But I just need to work with her on her posture. She’s like insecure or something. I think my fault. She was picked on as a chick so I separated her and now she doesn’t know how to be a chicken and is scared of...
