    I have a nearly full grown and already laying hen that still like to sleep and rest tucked under the broody that hatched her. Anyone have any hens that are still just big chicks?

    Upon closer inspection the toe is about to fall off soon. She is still eating and drinking. I think I️t should fall off within a day or too. I washed I️t again, and put some antiseptic and neosporin on it and now she’s back in her cage.

    I appreciate that. It really breaks my heart, but i do not have the finances to take her to the vet. Is there any way to do the amputation at home safely? And would you quality of life even be near good?

    ive recently taken in a young hen from a nearby breeder who had somehow gotten string from a tarp wrapped around her foot. It got wrapped when she was young and has grown into here skin and I’m pretty sure bone. It’s around 1 toe but she’s a silkie so her feet aren’t exactly the most pristine...
