    p. 209 Hen - Weight :2.5-3kg. Egg production in year 1: 200; in year 2: 160. Yellow to light brown eggs. Hatching eggs minimum weight: 55g. [I think this means broodiness]: Low. The hen resembles the cock up to the gender related differences. The whole fullness of the appearance lies on the...

    Niederrheiner Thread! All Colors!

I am so sorry it took me this long to translate this but I was having computer issues. Here is the German to English translation of the standard @Fosmorefarm posted. It is literal, and may have some errors. Also, anything that is inside brackets [...] is something I added. It may mean some...

The Carroll county fair is in Hillsville, VA. Near Galax. I won't be showing since I'm NPIP and can't intermingle my birds with non-NPIP. But I might come and watch the chicken (and rabbit, I believe they're on the same day) shows.

What Rabbits Do You Have? Show Off Your Rabbits Here!

I really enjoyed reading that, @Bunnylady. I raise Holland Lops and the confusion around newer folks with all the lop breeds can be a chore to explain all the time. Thanks, that was pretty straightforward explanation of them all. I believe American Chins are listed with the ALBC (American...

What Rabbits Do You Have? Show Off Your Rabbits Here!

If I was in your position I would foster. What breed is the first doe? The only thing I can think of that might cause complications is the number of kits vs. the number of teats the doe has. There would be 8 kits with one doe (not counting the peanut/runt as it will probably die as well). To be...

What did you do in the garden today?

This thread is so active I can't keep up with it lol! This morning I picked some peas, lettuce, and pulled up some onions. I think I waited too long to pick the peas as they are kinda tough. Will they taste better after they're cooked? I also discovered the rest of my kale was covered in little...

The chicken poop really makes things grow! I have a plum and apricot tree inside the run and boy have they grown within the past year. Same with the climbing roses I have on the fence and the hostas inside the run. I don't think you can kill hostas.
