    Deep litter method okay in humid hot climate?

    As long as it stays dry and is turned regularly..I don't see any problems with deep litter method in FL. I used to live in homestead, FL.

    Also, how do I determine a breed when they are all..yellowish in color? I was told 8 are layers and 2 were meat.

    I went to TSC today to get pine shavings. I came home with 10 chicks plus extras. Converted old rabbit hutch by installing cardboard around perimeter and bottom. Chicks are 2-3 weeks old. They are outside, covered, and hutch is in same run as my other ladies ( 1 roo, 2 layers, 6 pullets-barely)...

    I have the space. Sexing i will have to learn through BYC..lol. I am retired and have the time as well. Once sexed, the males will go to a separate area until I'm hungry.

    When to put in the nesting boxes

    I put 1 golf ball in each and I now have eggs next to them. I would say to try it before spending more money..but that's just me.
