    Do you have rats over there ? Had rats kill 5 of my six buff orp hens over a three week period. Not many of the normal predators kill one at a time, but rats will.

    Thanks for the link, very interesting reading, makes me wonder how even one managed to hatch, i will certainly follow petes guide next time, just setting up the incy now for a dozen maran eggs.

    Yeah, having opened the second egg yesterday i discovered a perfectly formed but dead gosling, how do i get to petes guide please ? Pleased to report the one which did hatch is doing well with two hen chicks for company...do hope its a goosey !
