    Rooster - swollen foot

My neighbor has a rooster that has definitely been attacked by something. He is missing a lot of tail feathers. He is 8 years old. She noticed a problem when he didn't come out of the house one day (about 10 days ago). He had no balance and was falling forward. We put him in a dog crate in the...

Plymouth white rocks + Buff Orpington= Barred rocks?

Didn't realize the computer auto corrected wing to ring... lol.. It will be interesting to see what happens. I've hatched out other buff chicks and white chicks, but this will obviously be my first cross.. It will be fun to see what happens as them mature. I'll try to remember to post pictures...

Plymouth white rock chicks with black striping in wings?

It will be interesting to see how they turn out. Thought it was odd because I thought with the White rocks that the white WAS the recessive gene and basically only gene, therefore bringing out the white in the chicken. Just found it funny that it now appears that I have some black striping back...

Plymouth white rock chicks with black striping in wings?

They are all in a shared coop and free range together. So striping on the wings (and potentially more) are because it is a cross breed with the Buff?

Plymouth white rock chicks with black striping in wings?

Plymouth white rocks + Buff Orpington= Barred rocks?

Recently hatched 10 chicks. Have 3 roosters. 2 Buff orpingtons and 1 Plymouth white rock. Have hens of both breeds too. It seems there are 2-3 barred rocks in the babies. I thought PWR rooster and hens would lead to more white rocks? Curious how I would get barred rocks with two white parents...

    Buff Orpington LOVER Thread!!!

One of my personal favorites. Love how gentle they are and the roosters have been fabulous. Gentle and sweet with my grandchildren. Newest babies attached

Broody hatched 4 chicks, can I get her to adopt the ones I hatched in the incubator?

We had a successful adoption. I lost my 2nd chick that hatched in the incubator. It looked like an abdominal abnormality... but glad to have these little ones!
