I have had my suspicions before, but yesterday i found two muddy eggs in a nice clean nest inside the coop. so I am sure they were laid outside in the run.
That is one heck of a coop! Thanks for sharing. I see that the sun may shine right on the nest boxes. if you start having eggs in the dark corners on the floor try some shades for the morning hours.
I've had Black Javas for 4 years and they have been a great project for the whole family. They are ok egg layers, but not great for meat (about 3.5 lb at 20 weeks) but that is just fine with me. with careful breading I am finally getting good results SOP with very few Pinched tails this year.
That seems about right to me.
That is .26 lbs. per bird per day.
We have 11 Black Javas and they go through 100 lbs. a month. They eat about 1/2 that when they free range.
