When can I switch from a waterer that sits on the ground to a homemade one that has the nipples and stays off the ground and STAYS CLEAN!!!!! They are 13 days old and growing fast!!!!- blavis

Our chicks are 11 days old now and we have put up chicken wire around the pool. It is 3 feet tall and they are starting stretch their wings and fly into the wire. Is this normal/safe? Do we need to build a taller box? or is it ok for them to fly into the wire. we have 9 chicks in the pool.- blavis

Below is a pic of my first setup in prep for 6 buff orpingtons next week. Under the pool is a 2.5 inch piece of foam to keep it off the cold concrete.
